A gold crown, for the Samanid dynasty and the Tajik people (whose name evokes the Persian "tâj", crown), beneath an arc of seven stars - seven signifying perfection and happiness in Persian tradition - centers a red-white-green tricolor, adopted in 1992 after independence from the Soviet Union.
