A navy Ashoka Chakra, a 24-spoke wheel taken from the Lion Capital of Ashoka and standing for the wheel of dharma and motion, centers a saffron-white-green tricolor, adopted on 22 July 1947 with the wheel replacing the Indian National Congress's spinning-wheel charkha.
