Officially adopted as the Palestinian people's flag when the PLO was founded in 1964. Red [is] the Hashemite dynasty [and] the blood on the swords of the warriors; white the Umayyad dynasty [and] purity; green the Fatimid dynasty [and] the fertile Arab lands; black the Abbasid dynasty [and] the defeat of enemies. The design is almost identical to the flag of the Arab Revolt [...] first combined in the current style during the 1916 Arab Revolt.

A black-white-green pan-Arab tricolor with a red hoist triangle, adopted by the PLO in 1964, almost identical to the flag of the 1916 Arab Revolt in which the pan-Arab colours were first combined in this style.
