Colors
What the law specifies[1]
Lag (1982:269) om Sveriges flagga specifies that Sweden's flag is blue with a yellow cross set at right angles (§ 1), that the colour is light medium-blue on the fields and gold-yellow on the cross (§ 3), and that the proportions are 5:2:9 along the length and 4:2:4 along the height (§ 2), giving a 10:16 field.
Symbolism and history
A yellow Nordic cross offset toward the hoist on a blue field, inspired by the coat of arms of Sweden of 1442; the cross traditionally represents Christianity, and the current design dates to 1906.
Most similar flags
The 6 closest of the 194 other national flags, ranked by a similarity index computed from the flag images themselves. The number is that index, 0–100 — not a claim that the two flags are “X% identical”.

the same colours in similar amounts.
- New Zealand76
the same colours in similar amounts.
- Australia75
the same colours in similar amounts.

Computed at build time: each flag is rasterised to 64x48, and the score is 0.55 × colour overlap + 0.45 × structure. A different weighting would rank these differently. How the index works.
