Hoisted at midnight on 7 February 1974. Red represents harmony, unity, courage, and vitality; gold evokes the sun [and] the warmth and wisdom of Grenadians; green epitomises the islands' vegetation and agriculture. The yellow stars on the red border symbolise the country's parishes. The nutmeg alludes to one of the primary agricultural exports of the islands.

Six gold stars ring a red border, with a seventh on a red disc at the center, the stars representing Grenada's parishes; the field is split into green and gold triangles, and a stylized nutmeg pod on the hoist-side green triangle alludes to one of the islands' primary agricultural exports.
