Adopted on 6 October 1968. Red stands for past battles; blue for peace and stability; yellow for the resources of Eswatini. The Nguni shield and two spears [symbolise] protection from the country's enemies. The staff holds injobo tassels - bunches of feathers of the widowbird and the lourie, which are only used by the king.

A crimson band edged in yellow carries a black-and-white Nguni shield with two spears symbolising protection from enemies and a staff bearing injobo tassels of widowbird and lourie feathers used only by the king, on a blue field.
